This is indicative of a different failing of the system: he has served 15 years for convictions that have now been overturned. It is profoundly unfair to convicts, and victims, for the appeals processes to leave cases in uncertain states for this long. Legally, a completely innocent man has now spent 15 years in prison.

I also question whether the position taken in this article is based on the identity of the defendant. I suspect that many of City Journal's writers and commenters would be nervous about application of the same standard to speech on the American political right; speaking about "Second Amendment remedies" would open one to prosecution.
